Alright, what’s happening over in Adelaide?! That town is generating some killer shit as of late with CHARNEL ALTAR, DECREPITORUM and EXHUMED KORPSE all putting out very strong releases over the last couple of years, and now ENDLESS LOSS (don’t let the name fool you, this isn’t sad boy doom or DSBM as it may suggest) lay waste to wimpy shit with their debut full length album of incredibly dense, churning, EVIL DEATH METAL.
I'm definitely not the first to raise this, but it shits the hell out of me, so I'm gonna rant about how small local shows mostly being ticketed is bullshit.
Alright, so it's 2024 and for better or worse, there are shitloads of grind and gore releases coming out every month. That isn't what this rant is about, though - the target of today's whinge is the trend (hell, it's just the norm now) of newer bands releasing ever-shorter records, and why that's just no good.
A fresh release from Finland's DOME RUNNER is welcome news to me! Following on from their strong debut album, "Conflict State Design", "Apocalypse.Pulse.Worship." brings five tracks of grimy, rusted-out, wasteland industrial metal, with a remix topping it off.
From Spain comes brutal old school grinders BISTURI! This compilation brings together everything released so far, from 2016-2022, covering all their standalone releases, splits and a live set.
France's ever-prolific gorehounds PULMONARY FIBROSIS are back with another sloshing, slashing and totally septic full length!
Can you really go wrong with Portland, OR death/grind? Not in my book! Chucked up from the bowels of America's anti-vax cooker state comes the full length that'll make your guts churn and brain dribble out your ears.
Blasting out of Italy comes FERAL FORMS, a new ripping death/black metal entity that is an excellent antidote to all the snooze-worthy, boring-as-shit OSDM getting around now.
For once, my inherent skepticism of anything "OSDM"-branded from the last, I dunno, 8-10 years or so was misplaced here!
